Why?

This week Claire started asking us "Why?" after we tell her something.  At first we weren't sure if she just picked up 'why' from the other kids at daycare or if she really understands what it means.  After a weekend of 'why?' we are pretty sure she understands exactly what she is saying and we are trying to simplify our explanations for a toddler.  

Now that Claire is eating in her booster seat at the table there is more of a mess on the floor around her.  When food falls on the floor Claire yells 'drop' and immediately wants us to pick up the fallen food.  She says "there, there" over and over again, pointing to the fallen food.  If you have ever eaten with a toddler, you know that spilled food is a regular occurrence.  So to prevent us from having to jump up for every piece of fallen food we told Claire that Co-Co (her stuffed dog) would eat it and we didn't need to pick it up.  After a week of telling her this, at dinner tonight a grape missed her mouth and fell on the floor, she said 'Ah, Co-Co will eat."
