Today was warmer so we spent the morning in the kiddie pool. Claire likes to play with the hose and Papa got out some brushes so Claire could 'paint' the patio with water. My uncle stopped by with his two dogs, Mia and Jack. Claire is not afraid of dogs, she will walk right up to them and try to pet them. However, if they try to lick her Claire does not like that one bit.
We have a funny story from nap time today. Claire usually goes to bed with her lovie. Today she had Mr. Monkey (her favorite stuffed animal) in her hands as I was putting her in the crib and she wanted to keep him. I did think it would be a big deal for her to take him to bed. I left the room and didn't hear a peep from her as I closed the door, so I thought all was well. I left to get lunch while Papa stayed behind. I was gone about 20 minutes and when I got back, Papa let me know that Claire was still in her crib, babbling to herself, not upset, but not asleep. While I was surprised she wasn't asleep yet, sometimes Claire babbles to herself before going to bed. I thought she would probably stop soon and go to bed. So Papa and I started eating lunch and she was still babbling on and off. I kept thinking, she must be tired, she will go to sleep soon. Around 1:50pm she was still babbling on and off and I was worried that her nap was not going to happen. Her babbling then turned to an upset "Ahh". Papa went in to check on her, Claire was standing in the crib, she had accidentally thrown Mr. Monkey out of the crib. We realized she was babbling and playing with Mr. Monkey the whole time! So we took Mr. Monkey out of the crib, I rocked a very tired Claire to sleep and she slept for the next 2.5 hours. Lesson learned, no Mr. Monkey in the crib!
